The Liberating Power of Self-Forgiveness: A Path to Healing and Growth
"Have you ever seen a baby trying to learn how to walk? The multiple times he falls and rises back up and tries to move forward - I wonder if he could walk far, tied with shackles of the burden of times he had made a mistake and fallen on his butt." Forgiveness is often associated with the act of pardoning others for their wrong doings. However as humans we often forget to forgive ourselves for the past mistakes we had made. We try moving forward in our lives with the burden of our past mistakes, regrets and self-condemnations and wonder why it feels heavy and tiresome to climb the mountain called life. As humans we often find ourselves in situations where we forgive strangers but when it comes to our own mistakes we seem to have lost our compassion and instead blame ourselves and experience guilt, shame or regret.
